St. Augustine, Florida: E. H. Reynolds. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1886. Hardcover. First published 1884, this is the First Printing of the Coquina Edition. "Several illustrations have been added, the most noteworthy one being the fac-simile of the plan of Drake's attack in 1586 ..." "The binding of the present edition is a reproduction by photographic process of coquina, the building stone peculiar to St. Augustine. This is a natural concretion of shells and shell fragments, found in extensive deposits on the island opposite the town." Decorative endpapers, 5-1/4" x 7-3/4", 144 pp, frontispiece and 16 pp of plates, illustrations from photographs and drawings, maps, plans. Index at rear.; ; Boards worn at corners with small losses, rubbed along edges and top/bottom of spine. Sound hinges, square spine. Prior owner inscription from one S. A. Johnson dated April 1st 1886. Binding stressed between pages 46-47. Scattered generally limited foxing, text block otherwise clean and unmarked. .
