About This Item

New York: Emergency Conservation Committee, 1938. Second Printing. Saddle-stapled pamphlet. Good+. 8vo. Pp. 20. Illustrated with maps, black & white photo reproductions and Alan Dunn cartoon. Saddle stapled illustrated wraps. Letter from ECC founder Mrs. C. N. [Rosalie] Edge with signature facsimile and photo on back page. ECC publication No. 68, second printing February 1938. Very faint foxing, stains and mellowed creases to covers. Staples oxidized. Brant was a journalist, conservation writer and early member of the ECC who later wrote a ground-breaking biography of James Madison. In addition to the eloquent advocacy here, his surveying helped establish the boundaries of Olympic National Park, established later in 1938. Although OCLC locates 13 institutional copies, quite scarce on the open market: This is the first copy we've seen.

Preserved in a clear archival pouch with acid-free backing.
