About This Item
Atheneum, 1965. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 187 pages. The writer and film critic's first novel, about a plague in contemporary London. First American edition (first printing). Light wear and fading to cloth edges, thus a very good copy in a dust jacket with closed tears along the bottom edge and a light stain on the bottom quarter of the spine. Inscribed on the half-title to the previous owner by the author: 'For ____, an ally, with best regards, and all my thanks for early recognition -- from Penelope Gilliatt.' Uncommon, especially signed.
