About This Item
First edition hardcover, with dust jacket, published by World Publishing, 1967. A collection of forty stories by many of the leading children's authors of the time; Eleanor Estes, Dorothy Canfield, Walter de la Mare, T.H. White, Eleanor Farjeon, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Meindert Dejong, Richard Hughes, Alison Uttley, and several others. Illustrated throughout by such illustrators as Edward Ardizzone, Mary Shepard, Robin Jacques and Charles Keeping. 397 pages, 6" X 8-3/4", with Index and a Guide to Further Reading. The dust jacket is included, it does have a clip mark to the bottom corner of the front flap. A 1/2" closed tear at the top front edge, two similar sized closed tears on the back top edge, edge wear to the tips of the corners and to the edges of the head and heel of the spine. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Sturdy, bright red cloth covered boards, with the title imprinted on the spine in gold. Nice illustration of a lion on the front cover board imprinted in gold as well. Blue top-stain seems to be a bit faded. Fore edge has some vertical bump marks. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Cover boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or creased. Not a remainder, not a library discard copy. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
