This is a facsimile reprinting of a book published in 1955 by Simon and Schuster. Book design by Daniel B Bianchi and Selma Ordewer. From the introduction: ''As we mark the five hundredth anniversary of the Spanish Inquisition, we would do well to remember that every age has had its inquisitions. No nation has been spared witch hunts, show trials, scapegoating, political prosecutions, and the like. Perhaps the worst manifestation of this in twentieth century America was McCarthyism. The full story of this disgraceful episode is yet to be told. The Oppenheimer Case, a contemporaneous and detailed account of one 'national security' case written toward the end of the McCarthy era, tells an important part of the full story.''
