About This Item

New York: Pantheon Books, 1978. First Edition. Very Good/Very Good. First edition, first printing. Signed by Edward Said on the front free endpaper and inscribed to the person who compiled the index to this book, "For David - Old friend, excellent + helpful critic, affectionately". Beam's last name is written in ink on the verso of the front free endpaper, and "Index by David W. Beams" is rubber-stamped to the first page of the index.

Bound in publisher's original black cloth with titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Very Good with wear to cloth at tips, softening to head of spine and bump to top edges of boards, texblock edge lightly soiled, pages lightly toned, small newsclipping taped and light marginal stain to front free endpaper. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with light rubbing and edge wear.

A foundational text of post-colonial studies that remains widely studied and cited in academia today. Exceptionally scarce signed.
