About This Item

A complete run in 3 issues (of an originally intended 6 issues total) of the short-lived journal dedicated to contemporary architecture, 47 pages total continuously paginated, under the editorial direction of Wallace K. Harrison, William Lescaze, William Muschenheim, Stamo Papadaki, and James Johnson Sweeney, with typography and layout by Herbert Matter, containing articles with titles such as "Toward a Unity of the Constructive Arts", "Can Expositions Survive?", "Regionalism in Architecture", "Alexander Calder: Movement as a Plastic Element", "Upon Beautiful Form", and "Light, a New Medium of Expression". Profusely illustrated throughout from photographs and some illustrations and floor plans. 4to. Original illustrated wrpps. with original printed glassine covers, some light soiling and very minor losses to glassine covers. New York (Architectural Forum/Time, Inc.) 1938-1939. Plus was a short-lived architectural journal but had some important contributors during its brief publication. In these 47 pages, there are contributions from Fernand Leger, Alvar Aalto, and Moholy-Nagy, among others. The articles in this journal explore the relationship between architecture and art in interesting ways. An eye-catching journal.
