London: Watts & Co.. Very Good- with no dust jacket. 1896. First Edition. Hardcover. Abrasion to front endpaper where a former owner's signature has been erased. Ink number and annotation to front endpaper. Some fading to spine cloth.; 136 pages. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Page dimensions: 188 x 124mm. Holyoake (1817-1906) coined the term "secularism" in 1851. In 1842, he was convicted on the charge of blasphemy and imprisoned for six months.
