About This Item

Washington DC: Ocean.. Washington DC: Very Good. 1860. Condition: This antique engraving has binders holes to the top edge, (from where it was removed from the book) , Light foxing, and soiling mostly to margins. A great candidate for being matted and framed. Would make a unique gift. Size: 9 By 11 1/2 Inches. ; Comments : This beautiful black and white print was rescued from a damaged copy of Reports of Explorations and Surveys, to Ascertain the Most Practical and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean. Under the Direction of the Secretary of War in 1853-5 According to Acts of Congress. Volume XII Book II. This being Plate #XLV of the Fish Plates. The artists who contributed to the are F. Artos & Co., Julius Bien & Co., Herline & Hensel, Hoffman, Knickerbocker & Co., Sarony, Major & Knapp Lith, and T. Sinclair's Lith.

A vintage natural history engraving that would look great framed. A very uncommon engraving. . celcrtE

About biblioboy

We are biblioboybiblioboy dealers in Books, Stamps, Ephemera, Victorian Trade cards, Magazines, Postcards, Sheet Music, Engravings, and much more. I started out as a book collector and soon progressed to owning a book store with over 80,000 books and more than 10,000 pieces of ephemera, postcards, and other items. I exhibited my stock for years at book and paper shows around the eastern United States. As the book and paper business has changed over the years, I have changed the way I do business to evolve with the times. I now offer my items for sale on the web only, through my various listing services and web sites. Being a a collector, as well as a dealer, I understand the importance of condition, as well as rarity of an item, and the desire to own scarce and one of a kind items.
