About This Item
A 9 1/2" x 14 1/2" black and white drawing on bristol board titled "kitchen alchemy" by bill rhode. Presumed an illustration for an article in Gourmet Magazine. A Moral on the wall reads "Little Fools will drink too much and Great Fools not at All". The illustration depicts an inebriated chef laid out on a counter drinking champagne from the bottom captioned "Umm! Umm! with with a disapproving senior chef warding off the bottle with the caption "Uch! Uch! Reverse marked Gourmet magazine. Presumed illustrated by Henry Stalhut as another similar item for the same article is signed by Stalhut. Publication markings. Bill Rhode was a food writer, including a book titled This Business of Carving: How- And Why - To Carve for the Table. Bill is the brother of Irma Rhode, food expert and author of several books.
