About This Item
N.p.: N.p., 1970. Vintage matte-finish color photograph of gospel musician and pastor Reverend S.A. Henry receiving an award from Baltimore singing group The Greene Sisters.
A singular moment in east coast gospel and R&B history of the 1970s. Reverend S.A. Henry was affiliated with long-standing gospel group The Baltimore Echoes, releasing a single, "Touch Jesus / Nobody Knows," with the group in 1975.
The Greene Sisters were a gospel singing trio, initially formed in Baltimore in 1960 by sisters Maxine, Edna, and Joyce Greene, and later joined by Evelyn McLaughlin, Shirley Brooks, and pianist Willie Jackson. At its peak the group recorded "Whatever's Fair" with legendary R&B producer Swamp Dogg (a.k.a. Jerry Williams, Jr.) for Mankind Records in 1971. The group also toured internationally with the USO.
8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus.
