About This Item
New York: George H. Doran Company, n.d. [1919]. This color poster, approximately 11 3/4 x 16”, depicts two golfers and a caddy with a background of what is apparently a clubhouse, in front of which are well-dressed spectators. Aside from the author and title (Fore!), the poster notes “Real golfing yarns by a real golfer. Absolutely true to form as the game itself - humorous and entertaining. At All Booksellers. George H. Doran Company Publishers New York.” The artist (whose identity is unknown to us) has signed in the plate with his or her initials in a cypher. The poster is in fine condition, neither mounted nor attached to backing; framed and glazed. The author, a sportswriter like his friend Damon Runyon, was a highly-praised pioneer of sports fiction.
