About This Item

London: Bernard Quaritch, 1880. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition. 1880, 1881, 1884. 6 volumes in green cloth, the first two volumes are the second issue, uniform in size with the others. Bookplates and bookseller tickets on front pastedowns, volumes 3 and 4 (Camoens: His Life and His Lusiads) more heavily worn, 4 with a small spot of blue pain on the front hinge, and volume 3 neatly rebacked in green cloth with the original spine laid back down. Light wear, rubbing to gilt and hinges, and a few lightly bumped corners otherwise. Still about very good over all. Slight scattered foxing and age toning internally, a bit heavier to the titles and endpapers. Originally published in 1572, it is the de facto national epic of Portugal, detailing in heroic form the voyages during the Age of Exploration. Penzer 105-106. Size: Octavo (8vo). 6-volume set (complete). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Over 3 kilos. Category: Poetry; Antiquarian & Rare. Inventory No: 044673.
