Boards and spine well rubbed with a bit of splitting to the lower edge of the spine. The front endpapers appear to be new. 251pp. + 4pp. ads but the last leaf of the advertisements has been affixed to the rear pastedowm, Binding shaken but holding although there are a few severe cracks. One of these is very severe. The frontis. map is missing as are two of the 10 illustrations. The first two leaves are detaching. The book has been carefully studied with light penciled lines in the margins and underlining throughout. There is a little annotation as well. Intermittent light foxing throughout. No prev ownership indications. Reading copy.

Very minor offset to endpapers; age-darkening 'stain' at base of gutter growing progressively fainter pgs. 92 to 115, rest of text-block is tight and clean. Scarce book. From the library of Harry G.
