About This Item

Columbia, South Carolina: Bostick & Thornley. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1946. First Edition. Hardcover. Dark blue cloth. 27 pp of text. Frontispiece and 42 full page, bright beautiful illustrations. Soft and moderately worn ends; the dust jacket is edge and corner worn but not price clipped. Now in an archival, removable clear cover. Perhaps best known for her etchings of Charleston, here is a lovely collection of pencil drawings and etchings accompanied by charming introductory prose. Many are places that are no longer standing, landmarks of pre-war England, France, Germany, Holland and Island of Jersey. Illustrations made in Italy, Japan, and in America of West Point, Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon and the city of New York. Her text is cleverly and delightfully written. A combination of travel, art, and philosophy interspersed with the her grand stories. ; 8vo .
