London: Whittaker & Co,, 1835. Hardcover. Good. A New Edition. Complete in 3 volumes. 8vo, quarter leather binding with silk boards and green spine. Gilt titles on spine. Vol. I: binding split at title page, vol. II: binding loose and split at front, small ink stain on front cover, vol III: binding split at title page. Contemporary name on front endpapers and previous owner’s bookplate on front pastedowns. Generally the inner books are nice and clean. 376 + 378 + 380pp., illustrated with occasional line drawings. Stories of village life, descriptions of local characters, scenery, natural history and local customs, ‘..an attempt to delineate country scenery and country manners as they exist in a small village in the south of England’.
