About This Item
Rutland, Vermont and Tokyo, Japan: Charles E. Tuttle Company: Publisher, 1961. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/Very Good. OVERSIZE. 1st Printing Stated ""First Printing , 1961"" Hardcover measuring approximately 11.5 "" x 8.25"" x 7/8"" thick. Deep beige boards with dark maroon spine cloth containing gold colored lettering in good condition showing only mild shelf & edge wear. Endpapers contains sepia-tinted pictures of various shop items of the period. Text block is clean but shows age toning and a spot here and there but nothing that detracts from the text. Pages are of heavier than normal weight. The stitched signatures are intact but a bit loose. Please Note: This is an Ex-Library book. However, it has only very unobtrusive evidence of such. There is a pasted in card pocket on the front free fly leaf that still contains the card with the signatures of borrowers. There are library stamps on the copyright page. The Dust Jacket is in very good condition. When the old brittle library plastic cover was removed, those infamous library stickers cemented on dust jacket of library books were so brittle they just slid off. Jacket has been cleaned and buffed and now shines almost like new. Only a ghost of shelf & edge wear. There is a triangle cut from the front inside flap where the price usually is. However, along the edge of the triangle are the words, ""U.S. price $5.95"" Contains many black-and-white photographs and illustrations; concludes with a Bibliography and a comprehensive Index.
