A crisp, clean and totally unmarked copy, tightly bound in purple cloth hardcover with design of a black owl perched on orange rules on both boards. orange/black title on spine. Two-color endpapers printed with owl design. Jacket, $7.50 price intact on front flap, is clean and bright; edges slightly rubbed, bit of color fade along spine, all else fine. Jacket is in a clear archival protector. A well-written, fascinating history of Henry Holt and his publishing company, by a longtime employee of the firm. The book was published on the 100th anniversary of Holt, Rinehart and Winston. A chapter is dedicated to Robert Frost's long association with the publisher and the book is dedicated to Frost, who considered himself "Holt's oldest employee." Includes a listing of Outstanding Holt Books, starting with the 1867 US edition of Turgenev's "Fathers and Sons" through to three titles published in 1965 (by Christina Stead, Albert Schweitzer and Sitwell Sacheverell) and an Index. x + 197 pages..
