About This Item
1696 1ed VIRGIL Aeneid MAP Georgics Eclogues Bucolics Mythology Jesuit Larue
"Audaces fortuna iuvat- (Fortune favors the bold)."
― Virgil
Virgil is regularly considered one of the greatest Roman poets. His epic poems, 'Eclogues,' 'Georgics,' and 'Aeneid' are some of the most important works of western literature and describe mythology, medicine, astronomy, war and military, rhetoric, agriculture, and more!
This 1696 printing of the works of Virgil includes commentary and notes by Charles de Larue. Larue was considered the most popular and well-recognized Jesuit writers and translators during his lifetime. In fact, his edition of Virgil is perhaps the best edition collected by a 17th-centurty Jesuit hand. This impressive first edition contains the oft-lacking folding map!
