Após uma contextualização histórica e biográfica de Públio Virgílio Maro, apresenta-se o corpo da sua obra, profusamente anotado em rodapé por Charles de la Rue (Paris, 1643 1725), também conhecido pelo seu nome latinizado Carolus Ruaeus, um grande orador da Companhia de Jesus na França do século XVII.
O primeiro volume reúne as dez Éclogas e os quatro livros que compõem as Geórgicas. Nos seguintes volumes encontra-se a Eneida.
Exemplar com picos de traça junto ao festo do miolo do primeiro volume. Atingem a mancha gráfica entre as páginas 329 e 350 e as 367 e 380, não condicionando a leitura. Este volume tem ainda algumas manchas de humidade, duas folhas soltas, alguns cadernos parcialmente desconjuntados e anotações a lápis à margem. Os restantes volumes apresentam também ocasionais manchas.
