San Marino, CA: Golden West Books, 1964. First edition First printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. The Shay was the first and most numerous of the geared locomotives. The famous Pacific Coast type was first introduced in 1927 as a last ditch effort to induce the western lumber industry to continue to log by Shay locomotives. 112 pages with photographs, some are builder's photos, plus data, equipment diagrams and roster. Bookplate on the front endpaper, else fine in near fine, bright dust jacket with a hint of edge wear.
