The Second World War diary of a member of the Canadian Chaplain Corps. The book was illustrated by the nephew of The Padre. There are more than 200 illustrations throughout the text. The editor took great pains to ensure the illustrations were historically accurate. As with many war diaries, The Padre's includes minutiae that illustrate the feelings of the individual soldier; something a general history can never do. The book includes and Honour Roll of the Essex Scottish, a list of honours and awards for the regiment, and a bibliography. This is a near fine copy with very light wear at the bottom edge of the front cover.
