London: Published at Clifford's Inn, by T. Werner Laurie, n.d. [1911]., 1911. First edition. First edition, second state with the words "and other pulses" on the front cover. The first state has the words "and other happenings" on the front cover. Original pictorial green cloth, titles, the ape, and publisher's monogram are stamped in yellow on front cover, spine, and rear panel. Collects ten short stories including THE PALE APE, CUMMINGS KING MONK, HUGUENIN'S WIFE, THE HOUSE OF SOUNDS, and six other tales of mystery and horror. Lettering on front cover and spine moderately faded, light wear to the spine ends, lightly foxed and a few pages moderately soiled, else a good copy of one of the author's more elusive tales.
