About This Item

First US Hardcover Edition; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. SIGNED and inscribed to the front free paper by the author. An outstanding copy of this early Travis McGee novel; one of the scarcest Travis McGee titles, uncommon in this condition, very rare signed by MacDonald (as of this listing, this being the only signed copy available on the market). This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright silver lettering over green boards, and clean, white pages throughout; the book shows light rubbing to the lower board edges and spine ends, else fine. Housed in a bright and clean near fine dust jacket that shows only some light creasing to the folds and two closed tears, one to the bottom of the back panel, and one to the bottom of the back flap fold. Overall, a beautiful copy of a rare book, greatly enhanced by MacDonald's signing; a bucket list item for the Travis McGee collector or 20th century mystery collector! Not remaindered, not price clipped ($5.50 intact), not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship in a sturdy box

Synopsis

Pale Gray for Guilt (1968) is the ninth novel in the Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald. The plot revolves around McGees investigation in to the death of his close friend Tush Bannon, who he suspects was murdered to acquire his waterfront property when he refused to sell to developers. In terms of series continuity, Pale Gray for Guilt is particularly important in that it involves a love interest, Puss Killian, who is central to the final book: The Lonely Silver Rain.
