Green marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Green silk bookmark sewn in. Housed in a green morocco covered slip-case with the same gilt tooling to the front panel. A fine copy of this beautiful book, the first detailed study of the remote regions of Oman from Musandam in the north, to the Hajar Mountains, Dhofar and the Empty Quarter, via the coastline that extends some 1,000 miles. --- Only 3 copies listed on Worldcat, in Oman, UAE, and Lebanon.

Illustrated with 16 full page mono plates, one from a drawing of the discovery by Dr Edward A. Wilson, the rest from photographs. Illustrated map endpapers in the front. A very good copy in an early leather binding by Morrell of London. Half dark blue calf. Spine with raised bands. The compartments lettered and decorated in gilt. Blue cloth on boards. Gilt stamped arms of Dover College to the front board. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A little rubbing to the binding but overall a very good and attractive copy of this classic of Polar exploration.

Spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. The compartments triple ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Gilt double ruled lines to both boards. School arms of Berkhamsted School to the front board in gilt. Board edges decorated in gilt. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. School prize label, dated 1910, to the front pastedown endpaper. There is just a hint of fading to the spine but overall a fine copy both inside and out.

Fine copies in publishers green cloth with elaborate gilt decoration to front board and spine. Spine also lettered in gilt. Top edges gilt. Previous owners name on front free endpapers otherwise fine, bright copies in original green cloth dustwrappers, lettered in gilt to the spines. Beautiful fine copies. Scarce in this condition.

Anderson, was orignally published in 1799. Six full page engravings, including portrait frontis of Cook. Complete. Previous owners named scratched out on the title page, without any loss to the page. Bound in contemporary full reversed calf. Spine with raised bands, ruled in blind. Red title label, ruled and lettered in gilt. Loss to the top f the spine, exposing the headband, which is loose. 2 inch chip to the top of the front blank endpaper. Overall avery good copy in an early calf binding. :

Decorative lettered title page, index, 12pp Publisher's catalogue at the rear. Neat previous owner's name, dated 1833, on the title page, otherwise a clean copy throughout. Contemporary half dark green sheep with marbled paper on the boards. Plain spine ruled in gilt. The binding is rubbed, chipped and worn but has done it's job of protecting the book inside. Internally a lovely copy. The binding is poor but this is an unsophisticated copy of a scarce miniature atlas, with original hand colouring throughout. Housed in a felt lined clam shell box, covered in dark green cloth and with a red morocco label, gilt.---- Although both the British Library, and Chubb's Bibliography of Printed maps in the atlases of Great Britain and Ireland date this atlas to 1810, this example was bound up later, with some of the titles advertised in the publisher's catalogue dating… Read More
