New York. 1999. 4to, XXIII, 228pp. Hardcover with chocolate brown cloth boards and an embossed title on front board with gold embossing on the firm spine in excellent condition and a palace photograph on d/w in excellent condition too, text is in pristine condition with no prior owner annotations seen. Rizzoli in New York rapidly gained fame as premier producers of wonderful large format architecture books of which this is but one and the 16th century builder Andrea Palladio of Vicenza had become one of the most influential architects of all time. His beautiful villas set the tone for many others at the time and this sumptuously photographed and illustrated book presents several other important country villas as well as well-known later works by others in the Palladian tradition such as Chiswick House in England. In all there are twenty -two different buildings shown and described in this beautiful reference piece.
