About This Item
New York: Rizzoli, 1991. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Cream cloth hardcover with title in green on spine. Condition: Very good, binding sound, no inscriptions. Dustjacket condition: Good, with general light shelfwear and some light sunning to very edge of the front cover of the dustjacket where it meets the spine. 324pp. Many sumptuous colour illustrations. From its beginnings as a tropical wilderness, Palm Beach has long been revered as an idyllic setting, embraced by America's wealthy and aristocratic elite, including the Vanderbilts, the Flaglers and the Woolworths. Most of the houses built for these clients remain in private hands and are still in active use today. This book details 32 homes and estates, such as Kahlua, Villa Mizner and Whitehall, ranging in style from Beaux-Arts classicism to Art Deco, and from Italianate to Mediterranean. The architects and designers included Maurice Fatio, Marion Sims Wyeth and Addison Mizner. A heavy book, will require extra shipping charges if to be sent outside UK..
