London, England: George Philip and Son, 1892. First English Edition. Hardcover. Good Plus. Octavo, 7.8 in. x 5.2 in., pp. xiii, [1], 243, 1-4 (advertising). Illustrated with frontis and twelve additional full-page black and white photographs and large color map of Paraguay (24 in. x 23 in.) in pocket on rear pastedown. Dark blue cloth boards with frame stamped in blind, gilt title and gilt coat of arms to front; gilt title to spine. Rubbing to extremities; sunning to spine. Chips to headband. Black sticker remnant to base of spine. Ex-library from "Manchester Geographical Society" with library stamp to pastedowns, front and back free endpaper, and verso of map. Color map of Paraguay in VG+ condition. The map was drawn by the author, Dr. E. de Bourgade "based on his own observations made 1887-88, the unpublished Documents of the Boundary Commission of 1871-73, and the maps of Mouchez & Toeppen, 1889."
