New York: R. Martin & Co. Good. 1843. First Edition. 1/4 leather. Steel plate engravings; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 340 pages; 1843 R. Martin & Co. Stout smaller format HC in 1/4 leather backed spine and cloth covered sides. Profusely illustrated with over 80 tissue guarded, steel plate engravings, most with 4 lines of verse from the poem which they illustrated. This copy falwed by some damp staining somewhat heavy to front and rear endpages but with the text block and plates generally bright and nearly free from any damp evidence. Cloth sides mottled; leather spine rubbed with portions of the leather title labels lost. Prior owner has placed wide transparent tape over the joints and inside the hinges. The binding is sound and the engravings quite pleasant and well preserved. Uncommon, but Good only at best .
