About This Item

Book grades Good but if one grades taking into accout it's great age, the grade is at least VG and perhaps near fine. It is soild with no weakness. It is complete with all its pages clean and unmarked although not as bright as it would ghave been a hundred and sixty years ago. The front board is brown with blind (incuse) title and author. Spine is brown with gilt titling and publisher's name at bottom. Corners are not even heavily bumped although top right is a litlte darkened. Mild loss of the dense brouwn colour in parts of both front and back boards, but it just takes the form of a paler brown. Back end pages clean with a lovely tiny yellow label "Bound by Bradley and Co. Boston." That would have been (Benjamin Bradley (died 1862) the pioneering bookbinder in Boston, Massachusetts. He was first known binder in America to specialize in edition binding in bookcloth, the material still used today.

The book fully meets the definition "RARE": no other copy offered on the Net for over ten years. It is important in that it deals with colonial America and looks at areas not generally reviewed. Education In Massachusetts at all levels and, in particular, Harvard College. He notes that the graduating class recited discourses on English Dramatists before Shakespeare, Charles the Fifth in Retirement, Jean of Arc, Latin Language in the Middle Ages, Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley, et al. Naturally, he visits and reports on churches, theological facilities and religious societies. And many others 132 text pages. 6 leaves of ads.
