Markham, Ontario: Fifth House Ltd. 978-1-895618-74-7 [978-1-895618-74-7] 1995. (Mass market paperback) x, 294pp. As new. 8vo. In the years between 1915 and 1946, the Canadian Government put to work in Canada's national parks, some 10,000 individuals, immigrants, the jobless, the homeless, conscientious objectors, those perceived as potential enemies of state, and prisoners of war. Many of the heritage buildings in Banff, Jasper, and in the other national parks of Western Canada were constructed through the hard labour of the internees in these work camps. Included are maps as well as more than 125 black and white archival photographs. As new..
