New York and Cincinnati: Eaton & Mains; Jennings & Graham, 1910. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. Octavo; pp; xiv, (i), 331; Frontispiece portrait of the author and, portraits of Lincoln, Grant, McKinley & Washington; A Presentation Binding; full pebbled black flexible leather covered paper boards, fleur de lis patterned endpapers, all edges gilt, gilt lettering and modest gilt inner dentelles. "Theodore Roosevelt" in gilt at center of the front board; Very good, minor wear at spine head, gilt lettering bright. Charles Henry Fowler (1837 -1908) was a Canadian-American Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church (elected in 1884) and President of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois from 1872 to 1876. This copy is inscribed by the author's son and the "Preparer" of the book to Theodore Roosevelt with Best Wishes and dated October 3, 1913 in a presentation binding. There are essays on two of TR's heroes Lincoln and Washington, and one on President McKinley, whose death resulted in TR's inauguration as President.
