The edges are lightly rubbed and the corners are curled a bit. Spotty staining and rub marks on each volume's cloth; circular stains on front of volume III. Endpapers foxed. Underlining and notes in each volume. However, the binding is secure across the set. Still attractive on a shelf and in excellent reading condition. The first edition, complete in six volumes. Contains occasional black and white illustrations and foldout maps. Translated with commentary by James Frazer, author of THE GOLDEN BOUGH. This particular set is from the library of Anglican bishop Arthur Cayley Headlam, whose bookplate is inside the front cover of each volume.
