Concise analysis of Cuban political history, their struggle for autonomy in the face of Spanish atrocities, and the causes of the Spanish-American War. Writing after Admiral Dewey's victory at Manila Bay in the Philippines, author Frederick M. Noa sought to build popular support for the war: "The wonder is, not that war should exist between the United States and Spain, but that the inevitable conflict should have been delayed so long."
