About This Item

London: Printed by G. F. for Abel Roper and Arthur Collins at Black-Boy in Fleetstreet, 1710. The Second Edition, with very large Additions and Corrections. Full leather. Good. Octavo. [4], 408 pages, 158 pages separate title, "Barons", [2] pages advertisements - "Books printed and sold by A Collins". Frontispiece engraving. Illustrated with small Coat of Arms illustrations in text. No color engraving inside. Restored. Original Cambridge style calf leather boards. New brown leather spine that is slightly off color. Right front flyleaf and rear end paper edges repaired with tissue. Period ink notations and dates written in the blank margins of approximately 182 pages of the combined titles (566 pages). These notations are mostly recorded dates from 1067 to the late 1600's. The last 5 blank pages in the rear were used to record "Advancements of Some of the Peers"; "A Catalogue of Peers originally created since the publication of this Book"; Peers originally created by King George 15 October 1714; and two pages of tiny hand written records of some sort that are written in old English. The last two blank pages are the rear end sheets with the rear fly sheet repaired with tissue on the edge (no loss of manuscript). The right front flyleaf is also repaired with tissue. Pages 29, 30 have small loss of printed text probably resulting from the use of the hand writing implement. Previous owner's iIllustrated armorial book plate (Mr. George Craufurd) on the front paste down.
