Vol II only of the 9th edition of John Debrett's Peerage of the United Kingdom of Great Britain: Scotland and Ireland. Small 16mo (15cm), rebacked in light brown calf with original mottled boards. Spine has gilt tooling with original spine label preserved, volume number label is missing, boards show minor edgewear at corners.
Title page + [599 - 1305] pp + 6 supplement pp. In excellent internal condition, text very clean and bright, with new blank endpapers.
John Debrett was a prolific English writer and compiler of reference works. His Peerage of the United Kingdom is a culturually important, painstaking record of the complex story of British titles, having proved indispensable to understanding the interrelationships, intermarriages and inheritances that have shaped the British aristocracy. It reads rather like a nobility studbook!
