The auction of one of the most extraordinary autograph collections in private hands; largely formed by Mary Ford (1816 - 1910), wife of Richard Ford, the noted traveller and author. Included are two items of international signifance - firstly a highly important unpublished and undocumented proclamation by Abraham Lincoln about Confederate prisoners; secondly an autograph Beethoven manuscript with this inscription signed by Richard Ford 'This quartet was composed for me in my presence by Ludwig v.
