Boston: Houghton Mifflin and Company, 1877. Hardcover, tan half leather over marbled paper covered boards. All edgees marbled and with marbled endpapers. Each volume contains two leather spine labels, upper being red with "Dicken's Works" in gold, the lower being black with book title in gold. Vols. XVI and XVII of the Works of Charles Dickens. Both vols. contain former owner's bookplates inside front cover, while vol. I has original owner's name in pen on front blank prelim, dated 1887. Introduction by Edwin Percy Whipple. Illustrated with steel engravings. Both vols. solid and text and illustrations clean. Spines are clean and attractive. Some rubbing to marbled boards with damage amd staining to rear board of vol. II. Overall an attrative vintage set of Dicken's first major novel. Near very good. Scans sent on request. . Reprint. Hardcover. Near Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
