London: Bradbury & Evans, 1850. First Edition, First Issue. Hardcover. Octavo, 624 pages. In Good plus Condition. Bound in half green leather with marbled paper boards. Spine is paneled with gilt tooling and lettering and red spine label. Top edge of text dyed black. Boards show rubbing to corners exposing boards, partial splitting to both joints, and moderate edge wear and shelf wear. Text block has mild to moderate age toning and previous owner's name on front endpaper. With the following first issue points present: 1850 engraved into vignette title-page; chapter XXVII listed on page 283 but appearing on page 282; uncorrected "cha pter" on page 19; "viii" in preface with last "i" not aligned; uncorrected "coroboration" on page 387; 'recal' on pages 16 and 225. Lacking "screwed" for "screamed" on page 132. Interior clean, with mild foxing to plates and light waviness to text block. Shelved in Case 13. 1371232. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
