Beautiful presentation 3/4 leather with decorated boards on front and back. Tooled in gold on spine with title and volume. The book has beautiful bright marbled endpapers with all diagrams,maps, and letters. A fine condition 133 year old set! This would light up any Civil war collector's book shelf! Published by Charles L. Webster & Company 1885 & 1886 Vol I 584 pages, Vol II: 647 pages 8vo, with gilt lettering & emblem on covers, Fold-out letter intact & in very good condition, contains numerous drawings . Condition: vol.1 fine! , Vol II is clean & tight, square, with firm binding also fine condition. No marks,names etc. Very nice first printing volumes in exuisite leather bindings! he Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant remain in print today and have been regarded as one of the finest written memoirs of a U.S. general or president. As historians John F. Marszaleck, David S. Nolen, and Louie P. Gallo state in their annotated version of the Personal Memoirs, "the Grant Memoirs have continued to intrigue their readers.
