Original but quite worn half-calf, over plain boards, the front of which is detached but present. Front label (scratched, stained and torn) reads: " I. Forester's Elgin Circulating Library/Instituted in the Year 1789". Deckled foredge and bottom edge. Previous owner's names to preliminary pages. Missing Foldout, as originally issued. 390 pp. Light age-tanning to pages, and a few pages stained.
