London: Hodder & Stoughton Limited No date, presumed First Edition. Once green (?) cloth on boards now shelf-sunned and faded to a chartreuse mix of colours. Front of cover with gilt title, four gilt birds on top margin and six gilt gnomes (?) on bottom margin. Mildly soiled and rubbed. Spine: head & foot with thin wear. Small wear to some of the boards corners. Light small indent to head of front boards top-edge. Edges: Light age yellowing and moderate foxings. Eps: mild foxings; ffep with two short inscribed, one is Xmas 1927. Front hinge with a few short splits. 50 coloured plates all clean and present. Frontis: coloured plate of child and fairies. Most pages margins are light to moderately foxed. Refp pages with loosely tipped in b/w illustrations with light touches of wear to extremeties and foxings. Binding is VG 127p Large book: 280 x 225 mm / 2 kgs.. Hb. VG/None. Illus. by Arthur Rackham.
