New York: Duffield & Company, 1910. 8vo size cloth bound hardcover; 401 creamy pages. Bright gilt titles on spine and embossed decoration on cover. Originally published in 1894, this was the first of 14 works published under the nom de plume Fiona Macleod. This is probably a First American Edition, and identifies MacLeod parenthetically as William Sharp. He was not really "revealed" as Fiona MacLeod during his lifetime. William Sharp (1855-1905) was a writer and editor of poetry and a biographer and had already published several volumes under his own name before adopting the pen name of Fiona MacLeod. Sharp's sister Elizabeth occasionally helped with the duplicity and published a biography of Sharp/MacLeod after her brother's death. Blue cloth cover bumped at head and heal of spine. Edgewear.
