About This Item
1530 Filocolo by Giovanni Boccaccio Floris & Blancheflour Italian Romanticism
"Human it is to have compassion on the unhappy"
― Giovanni Boccaccio
Giovanni Boccaccio was a 14th-century Italian poet and important humanist during the Renaissance. Prior to the popularity and successes of 'The Decameron' in 1351, Boccaccio wrote what is considered to be his first great work – 'The Filocolo'. This work, which was known to inspire portions of Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales', was based on the Medieval story of 'Floris and Blancheflour'.
This 1530 edition was published in Venice and is incredibly rare!
