Bumped and rubbed with wear and fraying at the edges. Hinges cracked, pencil underlining and marginalia throughout. Previous owner's name on the front end paper, jacket flaps taped to the rear end papers. Inscribed on the title page to his colleague at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, who is noted in the acknowledgements: "For David Sipfle, in remembrance of ---- ---------- at Northfield, New Haven, -------------, Prague - and Northfield again.
