(4to) Volume 3 is slightly larger, 1738 edition. All volumes fully re-bound in modern dark brown calf skin leather. 5 raised bands. 6 compartments. Black Morocco spine labels with gilt lettering. Gilt borders along spine. Tight bindings and solid boards. Bindings are in pristine condition. Modern endpapers. Clean, unmarked pages with minor toning throughout. Copper plate engravings and foldouts throughout. All are in tact.<br><br>Robert Boyle was a nature philosopher, chemist, physicist, and inventor, known for his development of the first air pump. Boyle's greatest accomplishment was the invention of Boyle's law, which describes the inversely proportional relationship between the absolute pressure and volume of a gas. Though entitled a general collection of philosophical works, this three volume collection discusses, among other things, the principles of chemistry and medicine.<br><br>This is a beautifully re-bound set, with a clean interior and exceptional illustrations.
