Profusely illustrated throughout with vintage photographs of the Old West as well as portraits of the photographers. Fine (some light foxing to the half-title) in bright, crisp dust jacket with a touch of wear at the spine extremities. The story of the men who caught with their cameras hisotry being made in the American West from 1875 to 1910. The author presents the best and rarest work of such photographers as Frank N. Howell (Alaska), Arnold Genthe (San Francisco earthquake and chinatown), Darius Kinsey (Washington State logging), Edward S. Curtis (indians), A.W. Ericson (redwoods), Thomas McKee (Mesa Verde and Ute tribe), Henry S. Peabody (Los Angeles, and Lee Passmore (San Diego).
