About This Item

Lynn, MA: Lydia E. Pinkham Medicine, nd. Pamphlet. 32p., 4.25x6.5 inches; illus., evenly toned, faint handling, else in very good condition. Lydia Estes Pinkham (1819-1883) was also a Quaker who advocated abolition, a temperance supporter (despite the fact that the original Vegetable Compound contained 18% alcohol), and a Grahamist (vegetarianist and inventor of the Graham cracker). Pinkham had little faith in 19C medicine, with good reason due to its harsh treatments and low success rate.
