About This Item
Toronto: Oxford University Press. Fair in Good dust jacket. 1956. First Edition. Hardcover. 62 p. 28 cm. Sound and square binding in illustrated, cloth-covered boards. Heavy foxing / staining to both boards, less so to the endpapers (see pics). Foxing along the top edge. Previous owner's name is erased but legible on the front free endpaper, as well as a date in ink on the same page. Inside pages are clean and unmarked overall. The dust jacket has insect predation along the rear flap fold. Wear to edges, including some tiny chips, tears, and creases. Partial ring mark on the front panel. Soiled rear panel. Staining on the reverse side. Although this book is not pretty, it is scarce in a first printing and the insides are still quite attractive. A combination of vivid colour pictures and written history. One of a number written and illustrated by the author as part of the publisher's Picture Histories series. .
