Delightful Book of Animal Fables. Includes Fox & Duck; Swallow & Sparrow; Lion & Dog; Child & Dove, and many more. Each Fable Beautifully illustrated with a large B&W illus at top of page. Dark Blue textured cloth cover with bright Gilt Geometric design and animalportrait vignettes on front, also blind-stamped Floral design in corners. Gilt Lettering and Decoration to spine. Beveled edges. All page edges Gilt. Pink endpapers. Lovely frontis illus. of a mother and children in a yard full of animals, protected by tissue guard. Title page illustrated with many animals including Elephant and Bear, followed by printed title page dated 1858. Antique gift inscription in top corner of ffep. No other inscriptions.
